OUR SITES

Bruin Dine

  • What: In collaboration with UCLA Dining Services, Swipe Out Hunger, and Bruin Shelter, Hunger Project serves free dinners consisting of leftover hot food from the UCLA dining halls. This effort not only targets food insecurity, but also reduces food waste in the dining halls on campus.
  • Our Involvement: We transport leftover hot food (that would have been thrown away) from the UCLA dining halls to a facility on campus. We then serve the food to food insecure students.

Homelessness Awareness Week

Picture
  • What: Homeless Awareness Week is a collaborative event hosted by various UCLA organizations dealing with houselessness in the Greater Los Angeles Area. This event takes place once a year and is intended to bring greater awareness of the problems that come with houselessness to UCLA’s communities.
  • Our Involvement: Hunger Project plays a large role in providing volunteers and leading discussions for events throughout the week. Our role is ever-developing and ideas are always welcome, so each year is a new experience. Most recently, we hosted an interactive panel and discussion on houselessness, where community members were able to engage and unlearn the stigmas and biases we hold surrounding houselessness.
